PROF. JENS RASSWEILER

Former Chair of the Section Office, European Association of Urology.
Chair of the Faculty of Urology and Andrology of the Danube Private University in Krems, Austria.

Prof. Rassweiler is a professor of Urology started his Urological Education at Katharinen hospital, Stuttgart, 1982. He also helped introduce extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), and ureterorenoscopy (URS) into clinical use in this hospital.

1992 he was the first German Urologist to perform a laparoscopic nephrectomy.

Dr. Jens Rassweiler became Head of the Department of Urology at Klinikum Heilbronn, the academic hospital of Heidelberg University in Germany since 1994.

Since 2016 the Chairman of the Section Office of European Association of Urology (EAU).

Prof. Rassweiler is widely published and has written more than 400 articles and more than 150 book chapters.

His interests include laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic nephrectomy, urological education, and pediatric urology.

In 2022, he was elected chair of the faculty of Urology and Andrology of the Danube Private University in Krems, Austria. Since then, he has also been a senior consultant at the Department of Urology, Klinikum Sindelfingen, Germany.

Dr. Rassweiler has received numerous international honors, including the German Urologic Association’s Ritter von Frisch Award, the Ralph Clayman Mentor Award of the Endourology Society, membership in the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, and fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons at the University of Glasgow.
